Moondance Parx
“Come experience the magic of music, color and movement truly aligned! All live shows are accompanied by an awesome light show that is produced in real time. The visuals are highly respectful of the music as the lead and integrate the beats per minute into the formulas used for the particle movement. This results in virtual waves of particles that swash (is that a word?) in time with the music….. I find my art to be a comfortably humble expression of logical rules that produce magnificent results. 🙂 hope you dig it!”

Lyric Serendipity
Sponsored by Kultivate
“Lyric describes herself as a “mumbling, giggling, by-the-seat-of-my-pants” performer. Her sets are truly a ‘stream of consciousness’ experience. She sings the songs you forgot you loved. Her sets are heavy on the classic 60s – 90s rock, but she has an expansive song list with an eclectic mix from a variety of artists….
Lyric brings the memories of the years of teen angst, new loves, raw sex, painful break ups, fun days and wild nights of our youth rushing back.” (source Kultivate)

Sandia Beaumont
Sandia Beaumont is the first of three pianists we welcome to SLEA today. From France, Sandia specialises in jazz & classical music.
In her group Sandia’s 88, she asks, “How many keys does a piano have?
You guessed it!
Just come and see what Sandia can do with them…”
“In jazz I try to vary between soothing and rebellious. In Classical music I don’t always sound classical. Programme for my SLEA gig is likely to be Chopin, Gershwin, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, Michel Legrand, Mozart and variations on a traditional African tune.”

“To play the piano as an artist,
is to dance as a couple in love.
The pianista plays with her whole body; embracing, exploring and feeling the keys, notes, strings, harmonics and percussive aspects of her dance partner, her lover…the piano.” (Prowess Rayna)
Expect classical pieces and original compositions.

While still a work in progress, Pearl Hyacinth opens Region 6 to show her Bioacoustics MuseoLab. She will be adding to the build throughout her six month residency and encourages you to return periodically to see the experiment unfold. It will progress in four stages from the current bones of the display to adding images, mesh and sound, followed by an invitation to performers to interact with the display, culminating in a final presentation about the project.

On Region 2, you are invited to participate in the ongoing ‘Diaspora’ exhibition, write a piece of Flash Fiction in response to one of this week’s builds, and view the living sculpture ’13 Most Beautiful Avatars’, Sunday 24th at Noon, to be followed by a discussion on ‘Beauty’ at 1pm. Visit here for more details.

Region 1, Winter Slavic Rebirth, presents the dance and musical production “First Slavic Mystical Horror” by Russian Theater “Orchid”, at 11am on Saturday. The production is based on a novel by Nikolay Gogol and includes a cast of a dozen actors. An exciting start to a superb series of events.
Between events, please visit the nine regions that make up your SLEA; there is so much more to enjoy in addition to the performances scheduled for this weekend.
